Our personal tip: When we are in Zwettl, we are almost always there
We're not just writing this because it's „a well-known inn“ - but because we really like going there ourselves: Whenever we are in Zwettl, sooner or later we end up at the Bergwirt.
Why? Because everything simply fits together for us here: The right price-performance ratio, which Quality is top, and it is always this pleasant feeling of being welcome. In addition there is a Friendly, attentive service, where you realize: Hospitality is still a pleasure here.
Waldviertel pub culture - „unadulterated and honest“
The Bergwirt stands since 1780 for Waldviertel enjoyment and describes its motto itself as „unadulterated and honest“.
The menu features classics that you simply expect (and love) here: Dumplings, roast meat, Waldviertel carp and of course Poppy seed delicacy.
There is also a large Waldviertel menu - at lunchtime and in the evening - „heartily, well cooked“ by the kitchen team.
Our „guest-friendly“ plus: terrace, children's corner, arrive relaxed
What we find particularly practical for vacation guests:
- In summer, a Terrace with a view over Zwettl invites you to linger.
- For children there's a Children's corner (plus malt leaflets/small surprises) - nice if the grown-ups want to enjoy in peace.
- And also important: No steps to the restaurant and WC (elevator in the building) - This makes it much more relaxed for many guests.
Weekly program: from fried chicken to roast meat
If you like to plan your excursion „by delicacy“: The Bergwirt has a weekly program, e.g. Fried chicken day (Wed), Indulgence buffet (Thu, noon), Dumpling day (Fri) and Roast day on Sat/Sun.
Tip: Dumplings are also available to take away (please let us know 1 day in advance).

The Bergwirt is Wed-Sat 7:00 am to approx. 10:00 pm, Sun 7:00-14:00, Mon & Tue day off.
Kitchen times: 11:00-14:00, Coffee time 14:00-18:00, Evening kitchen 18:00-20:30.
