Edlesberg pond / lake circular trail - relaxed nature walk

If you are on vacation in Gutenbrunn and Short, pleasant round in the Waldviertel countryside, the Circular trail at the Edlesberg pond (Edlesberg lake) just right. The path leads comfortably through the Weinsberg Forest around the tranquil lake - ideal for a morning walk, a short family stroll or a gentle end to the afternoon.

Why the round is worthwhile

Lake Edlesberg is considered particularly quiet natural jewelForest, meadows and riparian moors frame the water, and apart from a small area on the southern edge, the bank remains largely undeveloped.
The history is also fascinating: the lake used to serve as a Water reservoir for wood panning; he is partly regarded as one of the oldest reservoirs (um 1670 created).


This is how the tour works (simply explained)

  1. Start at Lake Edlesberg (depending on the signage/info board, the starting point is indicated as „Edlesberger See, Haus Nr. 15“).
  2. It's a short walk along the lake, then you dive into the Weinsberg Forest in.
  3. The circular route takes you back to the lake - perfect for a Break on the shore.

Tips for guests staying in our apartments

  • Best time of day: Early in the morning or late in the afternoon - that's when it's particularly quiet.
  • Take your swimsuit with you: On warm days, it's worth taking a dip in the water (please be mindful of natural areas).
  • With dog: As a bathing lake, Lake Edlesberg is often referred to as dog friendly described.
  • Shoes: Normal sneakers are usually sufficient, but sturdy shoes are more comfortable in wet conditions.
  • Respect nature: Shore bogs are sensitive - please stay on the paths.
